Shillong, Jun 11: With landslides a risk along the Shillong-Dawki Road, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has advised all travellers to take an alternate route if travelling to Dawki from Shillong (or vice versa).
Work between Laitlyngkot and Lyngkyrdem means that a section of the road is periodically closed to traffic and the route remains treacherous due to landslides. Lives have also been lost and earlier this week a car was damaged by falling boulders.
The DC suggested to tourists, visitors and commuters to use the Shillong-Jowai-Amlarem-Dawki route instead of the more direct Shillong-Dawki Road that passes through Pynursla.
