The 67 Battalion Headquarters of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) here hosted a briefing session on climate change, its effects and possible remedies to save the earth, water, air and trees.
The session was conducted by renowned environmental activist Jayanta Mahajan, a professor at Pune’s Christ University, an esteemed expert in climate studies and sustainable solutions.
In his address, Mahajan provided an in-depth analysis of the current state of the global climate, emphasising the urgent need for collective action. He highlighted the severe impacts of climate change, including rising global temperatures, melting ice caps, extreme weather events and the loss of biodiversity.
“Climate change is not a distant threat; it is happening now, affecting every aspect of our lives and posing significant risks to our security and well-being,” he stated, further elaborating on the scientific evidence supporting climate change, drawing attention to the overwhelming consensus within the scientific community.
Mahajan also discussed practical and actionable remedies to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. He stressed the importance of reducing carbon footprints, adopting renewable energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting sustainable practices at both individual and organisational levels.
The role of CRPF personnel in environmental conservation and their potential impact in spreading awareness within their communities was also underscored.
