The Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AICI) organised a ‘policy distribution programme’ to farmers insured under the National Crop Insurance Programme – PMFBY Rabi 2022-23 at Pyndengumiong, Mairang, yesterday.
Through this programme, the benefits of enrolling under PMFBY were discussed. The event was chaired by Director of Agriculture S Kharsati. She encouraged other farmers who have not yet enrolled in the coming season under the scheme to get themselves registered, so that they secure protection from economic loss due to any natural calamity that affects their crops.
Other officials from the Department of Agriculture and Mairang branch manager of Meghalaya Rural Bank were also present on the occasion.
A paathsala programme was also conducted to brief the participants about the enrolment process, benefits of the scheme, process for availing claims, etc. The roles and responsibilities of financial institutions, CSC and the premium components were also explained.
The programme ended with the chief guest distributing the policies to 60 insured farmers of Myriaw and Mairang.
