Twenty-seven new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Meghalaya today, one of the highest daily increases in weeks. There were also nine recoveries and no new fatalities.
Fifteen of the new infections were reported in Ri-Bhoi, seven in East Khasi Hills, three in West Jaiñtia Hills and two in East Jaiñtia Hills. Nine of those in Ri-Bhoi were high-risk contacts, while all the other 18 across the state were picked up during screening.
Eight of the recoveries were in East Khasi Hills while there was also one new recovery in Ri-Bhoi.
The Health Department also informed that three Covid cases migrated from East Khasi Hills to Ri-Bhoi, while one moved from South West Garo Hills to West Garo Hills.
In all, Meghalaya has had 13,821 Covid-19 cases, of which 81 are active, 13,593 have recovered and 147 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 98.35 percent. The fatality rate is 1.06 percent. There were also around 1,150 Covid tests carried out in the last 24 hours.
