The State on Saturday recorded two more Covid-19 related deaths which included a five-year-old girl child, health authorities informed. The other death recorded was that of a 45 year old man.
There have been a total of 108 fatalities from the disease in Meghalaya now. The statewide fatality rate is 0.96 per cent.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that Aphinia Umsong (5) of Mawkhap, Pynursla, was admitted to Ganesh Das Hospital, tested positive for the coronavirus and passed away all on the same day, which is on Friday. He said the cause of death was acute gastroenteritis with severe dehydration and Covid-19.
Haricharan Das (45) of Lower New Colony, Shillong, tested positive for Covid on November 18, was admitted to NEIGRIHMS on November 19 and died the same day. Dr War said, the cause of death was Covid-19 with Type 1 respiratory failure with seizures and aspiration pneumonia.
The Director of Health Services further informed that the State also recorded 117 fresh infections taking the number of active cases to 925, even as 78 more persons recovered from the viral infection taking the number of recoveries to 10,236.
Of the new COVID-19 cases, Dr. War said that East Khasi Hills district recorded 53 cases, West Garo Hills district 47, South Garo Hills district eight, South West Garo Hills district five, East Jaiñtia Hills district two, Ri-Bhoi district and West Khasi Hills district with one each.
With 427 active cases, East Khasi Hills, is the most affected district in the State, followed by West Garo Hills with 229 cases on the latest count.
Dr. War said of the recoveries registered on Saturday East Khasi Hills district recorded 24, East Garo Hills district 20, West Garo Hills district 12, West Jaiñtia Hills district nine, Ri-Bhoi district seven, East Jaiñtia Hills district three, South West Garo Hills district two and North Garo Hills district one.
Meanwhile, of the 2, 28, 455 persons tested for COVID-19 till date, 2, 17, 186 persons tested negative for the viral infection, even as 251 persons were in institutional quarantine, 522 in home isolation, while 61,130 people from outside entered the State and there are 35 containment zones.
So far, the State has registered 11269 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 108 deaths with case fatality rate of 0.95 per cent, 925 active cases and 10236 recoveries.
