Cabinet Minister and local MLA Hamletson Dohling said today that his stance against giving land in Upper Shillong to the Indian Air Force (IAF) has not changed.
Dohling was speaking at the ‘Transformation of Rural Economy through Livestock Intervention’ programme organised by the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department in Upper Shillong.
In his closing remarks as guest of honour, Dohling said that he opposed the proposal of the previous government to hand over 2 acres of land to the IAF and would rather see a veterinary hospital be set up on the property.
“I have been opposing the proposal along with locals and the headmen of the area even before I was an MLA but my ardent request to the incumbent Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, is to kindly see that the matter may not be entertained anymore,” the minister said.
Dohling has already communicated with the department about his idea for a veterinary hospital, which would, he said, serve the largely rural area and its people well.
