Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma defended the timing for the string of inauguration and launch events that he attended in Garo Hills over the past few days, saying today that these could not have been undertaken earlier due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“These were pending for a long time. A lot of the projects that has been completed but we were not able to inaugurate it because of Covid,” the CM said.
The timing had seemed a little suspect to certain parties as the election to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council is less than two months away and the Model Code of Conduct will come into force early next month.
