The Congress Party’s Meghalaya unit is trying to drum up support so that a good number of the general public turn out for Rahul Gandhi as his Nyay Yatra reaches Meghalaya on Monday.
President of the state Congress Party unit and Shillong MP Vincent Pala and state working president and Umsning MLA Dr Celestine Lyngdoh issued an appeal to the residents of Meghalaya to attend and participate in the upcoming visit of Gandhi, who will address a gathering at the NSCA Mini Stadium, Pahamsyiem.
Pala and Dr Lyngdoh assured that preparations are well underway. They emphasised the significance of the visit and urged the people of Meghalaya to join and observe the discussions on various issues that Gandhi will address during the evening.
Among the critical issues that the Congress scion is set to address during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra at Pahamsyiem are inflation, alleged discrimination by the governing party against minorities, curtailment of religious freedom, violence against women and the alleged erosion of democratic institutions.
Pala and Dr Lyngdoh encouraged citizens to attend the event. They emphasised that Rahul Gandhi’s primary objective is to foster unity among the people of the country and champion the cause of equality for all.
