A growing concern has gripped the community of Ri-Bhoi, as RR Kynsai Makdoh, the adviser of Ri-Bhoi Dorbar, has voiced deep apprehension about the escalating threats posed by drug abuse.
The district now occupies third place in the state concerning the number of drug users and the illegal smuggling of drugs.
Makdoh articulated these pressing issues during his address at the oath-taking ceremony of the office bearers of the Ri-Bhoi Peoples’ Council (RBPC) yesterday.
In his capacity as adviser to the Ri-Bhoi Dorbar, Makdoh issued a call for immediate action and heightened awareness to combat this issue.
He stressed that it is imperative for both the organisation and the community to collaborate in addressing this critical problem and safeguard the well-being of the district’s residents.
