A complaint has been lodged with South Garo Hills Superintendent of Police against a contractor, who allegedly failed to complete the construction of a market shed in Sibbari.
Social activist Greneth M Sangma in the complaint said the first complaint was lodged against the contractor with the DRDA project director Wilban N Sangma on July 18, 2024.
He said the project, sanctioned under the NEC scheme, has been left pending for an unacceptable amount of time. This delay has caused undue hardship and inconvenience to the people of Sibbari, he added.
Sangma demanded the SP to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the delay and to identify any potential misappropriation of public funds.
Seeking legal action against the contractor for cheating the public and for any potential misuse of public funds, he said it is imperative that those responsible for gross negligence be held accountable.
