Three new biomedical waste disposal vans for Shillong, Tura and Jowai were flagged off by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma here today.
The three vehicles, purchased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, will be used exclusively for the collection and disposal of biomedical waste from hospitals and clinics. In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the vans are equipped with a wash basin and a collection tank for the waste water, which will be emptied at the treatment plant.
The CM flagged off the vans in the presence of Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling. Sangma thanked all the contributors to the relief fund and said that the vans will prove to be of immense benefit during these times of Covid.
