Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma on Saturday countered the opposition Congress repeated claims on corruption in the power department with regards to implementation of the Saubhagya scheme, stating that it should come up with issues important to the State.
“If opposition thinks that just by them repeating again and again that this is black, this black, this is black, everybody will believe that it is black, that does not the way things work,” he said.
The Chief Minister said “everybody knows that due procedures were followed and that is why government of India has allowed us to move ahead with the project (Saubhagya) and they have been implemented.”
On inflated rates quoted on Saubhagya scheme, he said it is very unfortunate that they keep on repeating the same points again and again.
Sangma said that procedures were followed as per the guidelines and that all necessary steps that needed to be taken were taken.
“All the approvals and clearances were given by government of India. If there was a situation that there was something being done wrongly or if there was some kind of a situation where it was not properly done, the centre would have intervened, it would not have cleared the bills and would have stopped the implementation of the project, but it did not because all procedures were followed,” the Chief Minister clarified.
