Shillong, Dec 17: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma today launched the City Beautification Drive and inaugurated CCTV installations at Mawlai Mawroh.
Mawlai Mawroh is among the 45 localities covered under Phase I of the CCTV project, aimed at enhancing the safety and security of residents.
The Chief Minister said out of the 45 localities, CCTV installations in about 25 localities have been completed and the other 20 locations will be completed soon. He also informed that the installation of CCTVs and street lights is a continuous process and more locations will be taken up in the second phase.
He said the City Beautification Drive is a continuation of the efforts of the government through the Urban Affairs department and the municipalities to make the cities and towns of the state clean, green, safe and beautiful.
The Chief Minister sought cooperation from the community to bring about a visible and tangible transformation. He said that governance becomes more effective when there is interaction and communication at the grassroots.
The Chief Minister also distributed the beautification grants to the localities and also visited Mawlai Iewrynghep.
