The Central government has released grant-in-aid of Rs 299.24 crore for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Meghalaya for the year 2022-23.
In a sanction order issued today, the Ministry of Jal Shakti said the amount is an additional fund to provide functional household tap connections to rural houses in Meghalaya.
The Ministry also said the money will be utilised as per the guidelines and will be monitored as per the month wise and quarter wise financial plan.
The utilisation of the amount will have to commensurate physical progress in terms of providing functional household tap connections as per the Annual Action Plan of JJM for 2022-23 to achieve the annual target of functional household tap connections.
As per the sanction order, the State government should ensure release of the matching State share of 10 per cent within 15 days of receipt of Government of India share to the escrow account of the implementing agency of JJM.
