The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) today informed that a case has been registered at the Lumdiengjri police station against a Twitter account by the name of Legal Rights Observatory.
It was on July 24 that a group of men thrashed a shopkeeper, her son and devotees at the Mahadev Khola temple but the incident was not communal in nature, police have maintained. However, the LRO accused the KSU of being behind the attack in a tweet.
The KSU said that the LRO’s doings have only brought disturbance and communal tension and put the state in a bad light.
Stating that this is not the first time that the LRO was involved in spreading false information and inciting communal feeling, the pressure group urged the authorities to immediately arrest the perpetrators.
