The office of the District Tuberculosis Officer of Ri-Bhoi today held a public rally at Byrnihat in a bid to sensitise the public on the elimination of tuberculosis as part of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme and Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The rally began at Byrnihat Primary Health Centre and culminated at the weekly marketplace and was followed by an awareness drive aimed at the public.
The rally was attended by District Tuberculosis Officer Dr E Kalwing, State Coordinator Tracy Kharkamni, and Byrnihat PHC official in charge Dr Pritom Marak, as well as students and the public.
The central government has targeted 2025 for the elimination of TB in the country.
