A coordination meeting of all agencies regarding issues related to management of the international border was held at Ghumaghat border outpost yesterday between the Border Security Force (BSF) and civil administration of South West Khasi Hills.
The meeting was chaired by SWKH Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa. Also in attendance were 193 Battalion BSF Commandant Rajiv Kumar, Superintendent of Police GD Kharwanlang, Block Development Officers, PWD Executive Engineers, Customs Superintendent, etc.
During the meeting various issues were discussed, including the smuggling of sugar and other items and the efforts by all agencies to curb these activities, functioning issues of the border haat, development of infrastructure at the border haat and repair of connecting roads on the border and implementation of Section 144 of the CrPC along the international border.
All stakeholders assured their commitment to coordinate and cooperate to address and mitigate the issues related to border management effectively, a BSF press release stated today.
