The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya frontier seized 1,730 bottles of Phensedyl—a banned cough syrup—meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh and apprehended three illegal immigrants.
The seizure was made on April 14 by the troops of the 22nd Battalion as troops of the 04th Battalion deployed in Dawki apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals attempting to infiltrate into India.
During preliminary questioning, the individuals revealed their identities as Faruk Ahmed (37) of Mymensingh district, Md Samim (49) of Dhaka district and Md Sushu Miya (39) of Chandpur district, Bangladesh.
BSF said the recovered drug and the Bangladesh nationals were handed over to the police for legal action.
