Personnel of the 4th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized 1,025 bottles of phensedyl, a cough syrup, from the international border in West Jaintia Hills meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh.
The consignment was worth Rs 2.1 lakh, the BSF said in a press release today.
Since the start of this year, the BSF Meghalaya has seized 7,433 bottles of phensedyl from the Indo-Bangladesh border.
“Smuggling prone routes and patches are kept under strict vigilance by BSF to tighten the noose on smugglers and to discourage their nefarious attempts,” the release stated.
