Acting on specific information, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya apprehended a suspected Bangaldeshi tout near the international border near Dawki yesterday.
Jawans of the 4th Battalion were surveilling the area around Dawki when they noticed suspicious activity close to the international border. An individual was attempting to evade observation and was moving in a manner “consistent with illegal cross-border activity,” the BSF said in a press release today. The border guards then apprehended the suspect.
During interrogation, the man revealed that he is a Bangladeshi national, identified as Md Ibrahim, of Sylhet district. The BSF said that he is involved in touting activities related to cross-border smuggling and facilitating illegal infiltration. Ibrahim was handed over to Dawki police for further investigation and necessary legal action.
