Shillong, Aug 9: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier concluded the district-level volleyball tournament under the SPANDAN League 2026, an initiative of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), at the NEIGRIHMS Indoor Stadium yesterday.
The tournament was organised as part of the BSF diamond jubilee celebrations, with an aim to promote sports, nurture young talent and strengthen engagement with local communities through sporting activities.
The three-day tournament witnessed participation from teams across junior and senior categories for boys, girls, men and women.
The closing ceremony was attended by state cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai. He was warmly received by Insp Gen Om Prakash Upadhyay, BSF Meghalaya, along with senior BSF officers and other dignitaries.
The chief guest felicitated the winning teams and outstanding performers during the closing ceremony, recognising their achievements, dedication and sporting excellence. Shullai also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all the teams and lauded the efforts of BSF Meghalaya in successfully conducting the tournament.
KVS Happy Valley won the boys’ junior category, while KSO Shillong won the girls’ junior category. The senior events were won by KSO Shillong (women) and Gorkha Association (men).
