In its continuous efforts to curb cross-border smuggling, the vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya successfully thwarted smuggling attempts by seizing contraband items worth over Rs 16 lakh along the international border of Meghalaya.
Acting on specific information, the troops of the 4th Battalion BSF conducted special operations near the International Border. During which BSF managed to rescue 27 cattle that were concealed in a jungle area near the border, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The seized cattle have been handed over to PPP Muktapur for further necessary action.
Alert troops of the 193rd Battalion BSF intercepted a pick-up vehicle (No. ML-05-AC) loaded with cosmetic items without valid documents near the International Border in the East Khasi Hills district. In addition to this, a sizable quantity of edible items and liquor were seized in other operations along the International Border.
