The Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya frontier apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals and thwarted multiple attempts to smuggle various contraband items to Bangladesh through the international border.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, 200 Battalion of the BSF launched an operation in South Garo Hills and apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals identified as Md. Sakibul Basir (20), Adnan Mahamod Rohim (22), Sojib Ahamed (17), Md. Sakib Hussain (19) Md. Saju (27), all of Mymensingh district, Bangladesh.
In addition, several other operations were carried out in East Khasi Hills (EKH) and West Khasi Hills (WKH). During these operations, a substantial haul of illegal goods was intercepted, including cattle, sugar, blankets, cumin zeera, liquor, and other contraband items.
The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 13.54 lakh.
The confiscated goods have been handed over to the customs and police stations for further investigation and legal action.
