The deal to bring a resolution between Meghalaya and Assam in six areas of dispute along their common
border is 98 per cent complete, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said today.
“We are hopeful that in the next sitting we will come to a final understanding for the 2-3 percent that is left,” he told reporters. The aim is to have a border deal that is 100 per cent complete by the time the two sides are called by the Union Ministry of Home
Affairs for a joint meeting, which is expected shortly.
“We have been told by the Union Home Minister that he will call us towards the end of this month or early next month and before that we want to conclude [the talks on] these six areas,” the CM added.
