BJP State president Ernest Mawrie and MLA, Sanbor Shullai today visited Inspector of Customs and Central Excise Alok Kumar, who was a victim of an attack on November 24 last, at the GNRC Hospital in Guwahati.
Kumar who was in Shillong for undertaking training in National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), was a victim of the violence that broke out following the Mukroh firing incident in West Jaiñtia Hills.
He told the BJP leaders that on that day he had gone to Police Bazar to get some medicines as most of the shops were closed due to the rally at the Civil Hospital point. However while returning back he was attacked by a group of boys who were smoking near IGP.
The doctors at the hospital informed that Kumar was critically injured and was admitted to the ICU with 16 stitches on his head. Currently he is out of danger and recovering.
The BJP leaders also handed financial help to the officer.
