Jowai, Aug 22: West Jaintia Hills police arrested three persons and recovered three stolen two-wheelers hidden inside a jungle today.
The arrest was made during a pre-dawn operation in Demthring by the police special cell led by Additional Superintendent of Police Jason Myrom.
Acting on specific intelligence on the movement of stolen two-wheelers, the team intercepted an unregistered Alto K10 car driven by one Jopparson Rabon (24) of Thangraiñ. Another person identified as Meshanki Langstang(22) resident of the same village was travelling as a co-passenger.
Superintendent of Police Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said the team discovered parts of motor vehicles inside the car.
Following a spot interrogation, the duo led the team to a jungle which led to the recovery of three two-wheelers (ML05V 4471, ML05Y 5008, ML05AC 0799).
Singh said the team also arrested one Paulme Sungoh (21) of Nongbah Iawmusiang who was found inside the jungle with the concealed Yamaha Cygnus Ray ZR two-wheelers.
“The apprehended individuals admitted to stealing the vehicles from the Laban and Jhalupara areas of Shillong,” he said.
Police seized the car used in commissioning of the crime and all the three accused have been sent for medical examination as legal action is underway.
