Vigilant personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) yesterday thwarted an attempt to smuggle cosmetics worth over Rs 26 lakhs that were being shipped illegally into neighbouring Bangladesh.
According to BSF sources, troops of the 55th Battalion seized the huge consignment from the Sibbari area, 28km from Baghmara in South Garo Hills.
The consignment is worth at least Rs 26,59,000 at market rates. The seized items were handed over to the local customs office for necessary action.
