The Urban Affairs Department has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from reputed companies for the project for beautification of Jowai town in West Jaintia Hills.
The idea behind the project is to optimise resources in Jowai with re-development of public spaces, encourage quality design that enhances the town’s character and integrate trees and landscaping into future development and the public realm.
The project will also identify opportunities to preserve and enhance the desirable characteristics of neighbourhoods, preserve natural landmarks and features through conservation and enhance economy through tourism and culture.
The notable works under the proposed project include development of major junctions of Jowai town, construction of parking area for around ten vehicles, construction of road junction, pedestrian walkway with GRC pavers.
There will also be road markings, signages and branding, lighting and illumination etc.
