Shillong, Apr 29: The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) today maintained that nepotism in the appointment of daily wage workers by the Secretariat Administrative Department (N) exists.
Responding to criticisms over its claim published in a local newspaper, KHNAM asserted that the findings are obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
According to KHNAM, while a section of daily wage employees was recruited following a transparent process including advertisements, written tests, interviews, and merit lists, another section was hired solely on the discretion of the Nazir, which constitutes nepotism and backdoor appointments.
The party emphasised the injustice faced by long-serving SAD daily wagers who were reportedly replaced by newly recruited individuals chosen by the Nazir.
KHNAM stated that they possess names of officials’ relatives who were appointed under questionable circumstances.
The movement has urged the Chief Secretary to address these “inappropriate practices” and to ensure that all youths in the state receive equitable employment opportunities, as guaranteed by the Constitution of India.
KHNAM stated that it is committed to advocating for fair and just workforce representation in state employment, focusing on long-standing principles of meritocracy.
