An awareness programme on government schemes and initiatives for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) was held yesterday at Raj Bhavan.
The programme organised by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE-Shillong) in collaboration with Office of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, brought together key government departments, NGOs with the aim of educating and informing about the various schemes and services available to them across the state.
The program was designed to bridge the information gap and empower persons with disabilities by ensuring they are aware of the government initiatives tailored to meet their needs.
The programme was chaired by Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar in the presence of Commissioner & Secretary Pravin Bakshi and CRCSRE- Shillong Director Dr. Ram Shakal Sahani.
Various government departments, including the Social Welfare Department, Health Department, Livelihood Department, Education Department, Employment and Labour Department, played an active role in this initiative.
Through detailed presentations and informative sessions, CRCSRE- Shillong highlighted their respective schemes, services, and policies that are specifically aimed at improving the lives of PWDs in the state.
