Taking cognizance of the extremely poor conditions of the Wakantagre and Chibongagre lower primary schools in Selsella, the Achik Students Welfare Association (ASWA) has written to Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma seeking the immediate repair of the schools.
“The the infrastructure of these schools has deteriorated significantly over time, and their current condition is a matter of grave concern,” ASWA general secretary, Balkham M Sangma said.
While the school buildings are in a state of disrepair, with damaged roofs, crumbling walls, and inadequate sanitation facilities, he said such conditions not only compromise the safety of the students and teachers but also hinder the learning environment.
He said the schools require structural repairs, roof replacement, wall maintenance, sanitation facilities, electrical and plumbing work and provision of furniture and equipment.
“Investing in the renovation of these schools will not only improve the quality of education but also contribute to the overall development of our community,” the ASWA GS said while extending support to the government to provide students with a safe and nurturing learning environment.
