The first ever meeting of the Petition Committee of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly was held in Resubelpara yesterday chaired by its chairman and Bajengdoba MLA, Pongseng R Marak.
The meeting held at the Multi Purpose Cooperative Hall, Mendipathar, was attended by Rambrai Jyrngam MLA Remington Momin, Rajabala MLA Dr Mizanur Rehman Kazi and Chokpot MLA Sengchim Sangma wherein they discussed various public welfare issues with the Nokmas, Sordars, SHGs and NGOs of the district.
Marak informed that the committee fosters citizens participation in governance by encouraging the public to send a petition to the committee about any genuine grievances.
He stated that the committee will look into the issues and redressal of such grievances would be made accordingly.
The committee members highlighted its objective and urged the citizens to collaborate for effective responsiveness of the committee.
