The Meghalaya and Assam governments will tentatively hold a joint inspection of disputed areas as part of the border resolution process this month, Rambrai Jyrngam MDC Bajop Pyngrope informed today.
“The phase two talks on the boundary issue are already under process and we have sat over two-three meetings. If possible, we will soon carry out the joint inspection as discussed,” Pyngrope, whose constituency falls within the disputed area, told Highland Post.
The state government, which has constituted regional committees to oversee Meghalaya’s claims in affected districts, is working hand in hand with traditional leaders of the Himas to identify villages in the disputed areas that should belong to Meghalaya, he added.
