Asha School, Happy Valley, a premier special school for taking care of the needs of the differently abled children celebrated its Silver Jubilee today.
Since its inception in 1998, the School has been a pioneer in providing personalized and nurturing education to students with diverse learning needs.
It is a project undertaken by Army Wives Welfares Association (AWWA) and has since 1998 been making a difference in the lives of the many families with children having different abilities. The School is being administered under the aegis of Headquarters 101 Area by 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Shillong.
The school was registered with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and not caters to the needs of the Armed Forces personnel but also has 14 special children from the local areas on its rolls.
The celebration was marked by a cultural extravaganza which was attended by AWWA Zonal President Dr Nivedita Malik as the chief guest along with Lt Gen Sanjay Malik, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 101 Area.
Malik lauded the school management committee for having provided the children with the best of the facilities and making the Asha School one of the best managed special schools in the region.
The parents of all the children, teachers and students of other schools were also present for the function.
