The HNLC has denied that the four persons arrested by police for the recent explosion at the police reserve building at Khliehriat were its members.
It may be mentioned that police have arrested Nangpynphriang Rymbai from Tongseng, Mani Phawa from Wapung Skur, B Dhar from Umkiang and D Syrti from Jalaphet in connection with the blast that took place on July 14.
While claiming responsibility for the blast, however, the HNLC in a statement issued today said the arrested persons were not its members.
“The HNLC is of the view that the police department is shocked to find out that our cadres were able to intensify a blast at such a strategic location. The police department tried to show its swiftness by arresting youths who weren’t at all associated with it. We would also like to clarify that all the four persons arrested are not our cadres nor our over ground workers. By arresting people on just mere suspicions is as easy as catching fish with a net,” HNLC general secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said today.
The HNLC also said that it would not give up violence until the government comes up with something concrete on peace talks.
“We are not ready to shun violence until and unless an interlocutor is appointed. As long as there is no official communication we shall keep spearheading our movement and without fail. Show us practically that you are serious and we shall stop proving our abilities to destroy anything practically,” Nongtraw said.
