As part of the nation’s commemorations of the historic victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 War against Pakistan, the 101 Area is organising a weapons and equipment display-cum-awareness programme on ‘Know Your Armed Forces’ from March 25 to 27 at Polo Ground here.
The event was inaugurated by Major General HS Shanbhag today in which the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Assam Rifles displayed various weapons and equipment for students, National Cadet Corps cadets and general public. The youth were fascinated by the display and showed tremendous inquisitiveness regarding the capability and functioning of the weapons and equipment.
A Khukri dance display, Pipe and Drum Band of 58 Gorkha Training Centre enthralled the audience. A movie on “The Liberation of Bangladesh” was also screened at the venue.
In addition, ‘Career Guidance and Interaction’ for the students and NCC cadets was also organised. During the interactive session the students and locals were made aware on various types of entries to join the Indian Armed Forces as a career option. The event witnessed attendance by large number of NCC cadets, students and locals of the area.
