The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued today has declared the Lumpyllon, Lower Mawprem as containment area following spurt in Covid-19 cases and to restrict unregulated entry and exit.
The containment area is from MUDA Housing Complex and Field Residency Inn in the West upto the house of Robina Thangkhiew bounded by Municipal drain in the East. In the North, the containment area is from the house of Imosila Sohtun and Daphi Marbaniang upto the house of Rosa Kharbamon and Darisha Kharbamon in the South bounded by Municipal drain.
The containment order was issued in view of the report received from the Incident Commander Zone-IV and the Medical Officer in-charge Zone-IV that there is a surge of Covid-19 positive case in Lumpyllon, Lower Mawprem and in order to prevent further transmission among the susceptible population, early detection through active house to house (H-T-H) search for persons with symptoms and contact tracing of the high-risk and low-risk contacts is required and further, for effective house to house (H-T-H) surveillance, complete containment of the area is required to ensure people stay indoors during the active search of cases.
The order also states that no persons are allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within this area shall not move out, besides all the inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their homes.
All shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately. The Incident Commander Zone-IV, Shillong shall supervise and monitor strict compliance of the order.
However, this order will not apply to health workers and essential workers of Shillong Municipal Board, press including electronic and print media and LPG delivery workforce.
Any person residing within the containment area displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or requiring medical attention may call 108, stated the order.
