To strengthen healthcare delivery, the District Medical and Health Officer of West Jaintia Hills distributed Android tablet computers to ASHA workers from Thadlaskein and Laskein blocks today at Mynthong.
The programme was attended by local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla as chief guest and Deputy Commissioner BS Sohliya along with health officials Dr K Dhar, Dr P Shylla, Dr M Syngkon, Rapki Shullai and Dr H Niang.
In his address Shylla praised the dedication and hardwork of the ASHA workers, emphasising the critical role they play in improving healthcare at grassroots. He acknowledged their tireless efforts in conducting health surveys, monitoring maternal and child health and raising awareness about various government health schemes.
The tablets are meant to enable the ASHAs to perform their duties more efficiently and deliver service with greater ease and accuracy.
Thadlaskein block is served by one community health centre (CHC) and three primary health centres (PHCs), supported by 170 ASHAs. Laskein block has one CHC and five PHCs and is supported by 100 ASHAs.
