Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today asked the public not to panic about COVID-19, but be alert and follow all precautionary measures issued by the government.
The Health Minister said that the government is alert and making all preparations.
“The numbers are under control and there is no sign of this would lead to pandemic-like situation. One death occurred so we felt that the public should adhere to Covid practices so that we can contain and not worsen the situation,” Lyngdoh said.
A meeting was also chaired by the health minister with Health Principal Secretary Sampath Kumar and Health Secretary Ramkumar S to discuss about the states preparedness.
Lyngdoh informed that the public has also been advised that anyone with symptoms should immediately reach out to first testing centre available at all block levels.
Citizens travelling from high positivity rate have been requested to take personal precautionary measures and self isolation themselves, she added.
A meeting is also scheduled on Monday with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to discuss on the availability of vaccines, Lyngdoh informed.
