The All Khasi Hills A.chik Federation (AKHAF) today met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma urging him to construct various infrastructures for the interest of the people particularly the South West Khasi Hills district.
The request put forth by the organisation before Sangma was establishment of a block office in Khonjoy area, a government sponsored bank, police outpost. The organisation said these infrastructures were not in existence despite of the State’s attainment of its 50th year of Statehood.
The organisation also wanted the government to establish a college and to appoint a Garo teacher in all LP schools.
“There is no government College in Ranikor area and due to the absence of one, youth of Ranikor have to face difficulties for their further studies as they have to travel long distances either to Shillong, Mawkyrwat and Nongstoiñ and most of the parents are not financially sound to afford to send them for higher studies,” the organisation said.
The organisation said that though it appreciates the establishment of a separate Ranikor Civil Sub Division it is regretted that since the day of inauguration in 2018 till date, the sub-division is non-functional without the presence of single staff.
