The Kharkutta unit of the A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has written to the North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner to complain about the absence of staff from a sub-centre of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department in Depa village.
AHAM and locals conducted an inspection of the field office on November 3 and found that neither the Field Assistant or peon were present. Indeed, the staff quarters appeared abandoned and derelict.
Farmers have found it difficult in sourcing help for their injured or ill livestock because of the irregular functioning of the sub-centre, AHAM said.
