The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to try and get him to put pressure on the Meghalaya government to release pending salaries.
SSA teachers have not received their wages for June onwards. They have also not received a chunk of arrears dating back to 2016-17.
Since the Centre has already released its share, the AGHSSASTA wants Meghalaya to cough up the salaries.
The association also drew the PM’s attention to the upcoming puja holidays and said that the salaries are necessary for the teachers to be able to celebrate the occasion with their families.
