Aggrieved villagers in East Garo Hills have submitted a written complaint to the Deputy Commissioner over the alleged denial by the A’king Nokma and her husband for no-objection certificates (NOCs) to school students.
The A’king Nokma, Polsoni M Sangma, and her husband, Balnang Ch Marak, have been accused in the complaint of refusing to issue NOCs that students require for school registration or other purposes, as well as NOCs to other villagers for various reasons.
Sangma was appointed as A’king Nokma of Gongnagre almost a year ago and pleas by the villagers have reportedly gone in vain.
“They (the students) could not proceed with their education for one academic year as they could not provide the required documents to the school,” the letter said.
The villagers also complained that the Nokma has not taken any action against the blocking of a public road in the village.
