The State cabinet today decided to raise the upper age limit for recruitment of Samgra Siksha Abhiyaan (SSA) school teachers in the State to 45 years.
This decision was taken at the cabinet meeting held in Resubelpara in North Garo Hills.
According to Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma, there are many serving SSA school teachers in the State who are qualified and passed their Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test but were overage.
“Therefore just to give them room to apply for the recruitment in the government lower primary and upper primary schools or secondary and higher secondary schools the upper age limit was increased,” Sangma told media persons after the cabinet meeting.
The education minister said that such teachers will have to follow due process such as applying for the posts and sitting for the interview.
