Prompted by an engaging game of cricket with young cricketers recently, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today presented cricket kit to local clubs of the Sanmer area.
During today’s event, organised by Sanmer Sports, Social and Cultural Club, the CM presented cricket equipment to five different cricket teams.
Sangma’s visit was prompted by an impromptu meeting with young cricketers during a trek. Witnessing their passion for the sport and recognising their need for better equipment, he pledged his support, which culminated in the distribution of cricket kit today.
In his address, the CM emphasised the importance of nurturing the youth and providing them with opportunities to excel in sports and music.
“Nothing gives me more satisfaction than to see the energy and the passion in our youngsters,” he stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to creating platforms for their development.
He also announced several key initiatives for the Sanmer community, including the sanctioning of a PA system, financial assistance for the Sanmer SSCC and a commitment to support the construction of a community hall and a water reservoir.
Daniel Thangkhiew, political secretary to the Chief Minister cited Sangma’s recent sanction of funds to mission-run hospitals as an example of his commitment to public welfare.
