The Domiasiat Government LP School that was shut down after the uranium issue broke out in the area will re-open next year.
The assurance was given by Director of School, Education and Literacy, Ambrose Ch Marak to the Khasi Students Union (KSU), South West Khasi Hills who met him recently.
The school was shut down since 2007 amd two teachers were earlier temporarily transferred to the Phlangdiloin Government Lower Primary School and the Sasniang Government Lower Primary School that time.
The village has eight households and more than 20 children who are presently attending school at Wahkaji, about 6 kms, according to the KSU.
Earlier, the Sub-divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), Mawkyrwat in a letter to the Director of School Education and Literacy, Meghalaya today said the transfer of two teachers has been put up for consideration.
In their meeting with the Director, the district KSU also demanded that the school should immediately be renovated and to transfer back the assistant teachers.
KSU district education secretary Ïoanis Hahshah said that the students union will also take up the matter with Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein and Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui.
