Shillong, Sep 1: The Achik Dedicated Integrity Leaders (ADIL), Garobadha regional unit has urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to address infrastructural and educational concerns of South West Garo Hills district.
ADIL leaders met with the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum with a request to sanction and repair a PWD Road from Harigaon to Baghmara, a vital lifeline for over nine villages with more than 3,000 residents.
The organisation highlighted the dire condition of Chimisenggre Adhoc Secondary School due to inadequate classroom space, insufficient furniture, poor sanitation facilities, and unreliable access to drinking water.
ADIL proposed the construction of a new bridge over the Ganol River, connecting Wakantagre to Harigaon. The absence of a bridge poses significant challenges for daily commuting, emergency services, and economic exchange, it said.
The Chief Minister assured to take necessary steps to address the demands in the interest of public welfare.
