The Jowai unit of the right-wing students’ organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gave out its ‘U Kiang Nangbah Best Student Awards 2024’ in Jowai today.
There were over 600 attendees, including students, parents, teachers, professors and well-wishers.
The event was attended by dignitaries like Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council, Lakhon Biam, JHADC MDC, Puranon Kynjing, Dolloi of Elaka Jowai, and Sashankutlang Khongthohrem, state president of ABVP Meghalaya.
During his speech, Boro praised ABVP for honouring Meghalaya’s freedom fighters through the event and encouraged the youth to actively participate in the development of the state and the nation. Biam echoed this sentiment, motivating young attendees to be ready to serve the country. Kynjing provided a brief history of U Kiang Nangbah, highlighting his sacrifice for India’s freedom struggle. Khongthohrem also elaborated on ABVP’s mission and its ideology.
In this programme, 94 students from 46 schools of West Jaintia Hills were honoured.
