Shillong, Aug 4: The organisation known as A·chik Dedicated Integrity Leaders (ADIL) today met representatives of SAI Computers Ltd today to raise their concerns regarding persistent power supply irregularities affecting local residents, students and businesses.
SAI Computers is involved in providing technology solutions, particularly in the power distribution sector and is active in Garo Hills.
In a release, ADIL said that numerous complaints have been received from community members stating that ongoing disruptions are severely hampering access to computers, internet connectivity and students’ ability to study on time.
During the discussion, ADIL strongly advocated for the deployment of at least six linemen in both Gasuapara and Dalu blocks. Currently, only four linemen are stationed in each location, which is insufficient to maintain services, especially during adverse weather conditions when power lines collapse due to heavy rain and strong winds. ADIL said that even SAI Computers’ own operational guidelines list six linemen as the minimum per block.
ADIL also emphasised the importance of regular clearing of tree branches and leaves that obstruct or damage electrical lines, replacement of aging or damaged electricity poles and ensure consistent power supply.
