Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem today held a review meeting with officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) to assess the status of ongoing road projects, particularly from the Nongpoh Division, under both the state scheme and the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Addressing a press conference following the meeting, Syiem informed that he closely reviewed the progress of the Nongpoh–Umden–Sonapur road. The project is being implemented in two phases: the first 20km stretch under the state scheme and the second portion under PMGSY.
“The progress of the state-funded portion is quite satisfactory. The overall work has advanced by 40 to 50 percent. Earthwork is nearly 100 percent complete, while construction of cross drains and retaining walls is around 60 to 70 percent done. The metalling and blacktopping works are yet to begin,” Syiem stated.
The MLA also highlighted a list of road proposals which had been directed for survey two months ago. He said he was satisfied with the completion of most surveys and commended the PWD officials for adhering to the instructions. He emphasised the importance of timely submission of project proposals on the official PMGSY portal.
“The last date to upload the proposals is within this month of July. I hope all parameters will be met and that the concerned authorities, both the state-level SSRDA and the national-level NRRDA, will give their approval,” he added.
